The Art and Healing Power of Plants

The Art and Healing Power of Plants

This new exhibition at the Chelsea Physic Gardens features the works of the talented artists of the CPG Florilegium. Focussing on plants used to treat heart and lung conditions, the exhibition runs until 30th August in conjunction with the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. Paintings are displayed throughout the botanic garden in Chelsea next to the living specimens. There are also 15 works displayed in the café of the hospital, allowing patients and visitors to benefit too. The image chosen to promote the exhibition is a painting of Colichicum autumnale by Helen Allen, CSBA founder and principal.

25th – 27th March 2019 Helen Allen, Principal of CSBA, is honoured to lead this first botanical art class at The Royal Gardens, providing a rare chance to experience her teaching this spring. Highgrove holds a special place in Helen’s heart, as a member of the Highgrove Florilegium, as well as project leader and contributor to the Transylvania Florilegium.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The course is now full.

We’re moving!

2019 will be an exciting year for CSBA, as we move our courses to the private studio of school Principal, Helen Allen. The GreenHouse in Ham, South West London, is a space dedicated to learning and practicing botanical art.  The studio is light-filled, warm and rich with inspiration.  There is an extensive library of books covering all areas of botanical art and the studio is fully equipped for up to eight students. Ham is located in the lush suburbs of Richmond, within walking distance of the River Thames, Richmond Park and the 72 hectare local nature reserve of Ham Lands.  […]

10th-12th July 2018 RHS Lindley Hall, London SW1P 2QW Once again, CSBA is delighted to be a part of the internationally renowned RHS Botanical Art Exhibition 2018 in London.  This important exhibition brings together botanical artists from around the world, many of whom are graduates of the school. The artists, having been selected to exhibit, aspire to earn an RHS medal for their collection of work at the show. Helen Allen, founder and principal of the Chelsea School of Botanical Art, will be leading a four-day botanical art workshop in Guernsey.  The workshop runs from 12th to 15th June, 10am to 4pm, as part of the Guernsey Arts Commission’s Lady Tait Botanical Art Exhibition.
